At Heartwood we believe that the building arts are for everyone

Part of the mission of the Heartwood School is to provide accessible education in the craft of timber framing and in the building arts, and we are committed to addressing barriers to entry. We strive to make our courses accessible by offering a number of scholarships every year on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis. Scholarship funds are intended to reduce financial obstacles by providing full or partial tuition assistance for enrolled courses. Please note: the funds provided in this scholarship will be applied directly to the cost of tuition. If tuition has been paid previously, a reimbursement in the amount awarded will be issued.

For this round of scholarships, we are offering a number of partial scholarships that will cover up to 50% of tuition costs for one enrolled course, up to but not exceeding $500. Please note that we have a limited amount of scholarship funding each year and encourage applicants to apply as early as possible.

Everyone with financial need is welcome to apply. Eligibility is further determined by demonstration of interest and commitment to learning the craft of timber framing and other building arts, and interest in community service in addition to financial need.

To be considered in this round of scholarships, applications are due by
May 3rd, 2024.

* Scholarship recipients may be asked to write a short synopsis of their time at Heartwood to be used in future Heartwood scholarship promotion materials. This is optional and willingness to participate will not affect scholarship eligibility or determination. Applicants will be notified by phone or email.
