Heartwood School Policies

Invoicing:

Students will pay in full at the time of registration. Payment plans are available to students by request, with an additional $35 fee, and the final payment due no later than one month before the course start date.Please see the Discounts section below for information on discounts to tuition.

Cancellation policy:

Please note that cancellation fees are necessary to cover administrative costs, credit card fees, course material acquisitions, and other expenses. Our policy below was created with an understanding that it can be difficult to fill cancellations, especially when the course start date is close.

• 50% of tuition is non-refundable, in all cases.
• Note: we are able to provide a full refund with the exception of a $150 fee that covers our administrative costs, if you cancel earlier than 30 days before the class start date and we are able to fill your space in the course.
• If a student cancels 8 days prior to the start date of the course, 50% of the paid registration is forfeited, and 50% will be refunded to the student via the original method of payment.
• All the tuition payments are forfeited if the student: cancels within 7 days of class starting, does  not show up for class, or leaves or stops attending class. 

If a student would like to change/transfer classes they have registered for, they can transfer a registration to a class in that calendar year, and Heartwood will provide a refund if the difference in course prices exceeds the $150 processing fee. In cases where the tuition of the new course is greater, Heartwood will issue an invoice to the student for the remaining balance. Heartwood charges a $100 transfer fee for any transfer  if it occurs within 30 days of the class start date. We are unable to hold tuition payments for any amount of time, and transfer of registration must happen at the same time as a student’s withdrawal from their original course.

Heartwood has the right to cancel any class due to lower enrollment, weather, covid-19, etc.  A full refund will be issued in this case. 

Photo policy: 

Heartwood staff and others may be taking photos or video during your class. By registering for  this course, you agree to the use of your likeness by the Heartwood School and/or Timber  Framers Guild in images, photographs, video or other such forms of media as the organization(s) develop. Permission extends into perpetuity. Accommodations can be made in some cases, and you will have the option to opt-out via waiver on the first day of any course you attend. Please contact Heartwood staff with any concerns or questions about this policy. 

Discounts:

Note: In order to apply a discount, Heartwood must be contacted for a discount code before registering for a course. If you have already registered, Heartwood must be notified of a potential discount with 7 days of the student registering in order to issue a refund.

• Couples- 10% on second tuition. Same household. This cannot be applied towards the Timber  Framing Intensive course 
• Veterans- 5%- Need proof, Military ID required 
• Heartwood Apprentices- 50% 
• Past Apprentices- 10%, Past 5 years, Limit 2 per class. 
• Instructors- 15%, Limit 2 per class.
