Ariel Burns has been finding a home in the building world since her introduction to it in 2012, while living in the mountains of North Carolina. She has explored the different realms of construction: backyard DIY natural building, home renovations, high performance & green building, general carpentry, and traditional timber framing.
She often works alongside long-time mentor & cohort Liz Johndrow of Earthen Endeavors to produce high quality natural plaster services.
In 2016, Ariel landed herself at a sawmillbased timber frame shop in Lisbon, Maine. She has since fallen in love with the craft and (stepped up with colleague Mark Casad to solidify a business partnership, known as) is now co-owner of Maine Heritage Timber Frames.
She enjoys sharing knowledge of the building trade by instructing classes at both Heartwood School and Yestermorrow Design/Build.
When not at work, Ariel teaches yoga, DJs dance parties and plays drums in her heavy metal band.
