George Morrison presently resides in Fairview, North Carolina where he owns and operates Morrison Building Company, specializing in traditional timber frame construction. He has been working in the trades since 1996, firstly as a carpenter on the Outer Banks of NC. Soon after relocating to the mountains, the craft of timber framing found him in 2001. After working in a small shop, joining the Timber Framers Guild and taking a few Heartwood classes, he knew he had found his passion. For the next 14 years, George worked in a few small shops and as an Itinerant timber framer. In 2015, he started his own shop. George feels strongly that learning, in any craft, is a life long journey. Being part of the timber framing community has enriched his experience through the sharing of knowledge, ideas and skills.
George has been an instructor on several Timber Framers Guild Community Building Projects, as well as a volunteer on just as many. He has also served as a Project Manager on the Porter’s Pavillion, Hidden Trace Farm (Franklin, TN), Independence Farmers Market (Independence, VA) and Nok-cvpe Hvoke Em Vpette (Sturgeon Shade), Ekvn-Yefolecv Ecovillage (Weogufka, AL). Locally, George has been an instructor for a few timber frame courses put on by a small school that focuses on carpentry and other hands-on skills.
When not in the shop, he enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family.
